Leaving University - What's next?

Hi Friends,

I am a at a big crossroads in my life, recently making the decision to finish university this year with a BA in History with Innovation, instead of carrying on to get my originally intended integrated MA. That is a discussion for another time!

It seems like my writing starts and ends with dramatic moments. Last time I posted on here was March 2020, when I had come back from India unexpectedly, and was blissfuly unaware we were about to head into full blown lockdown. A big chunk of my life since then is therefore missing, but I don't see the point in filling in the blanks, instead I see this as an opportunity to re-start and figure out what exactly it is I want to blog about! For the time being, I like the idea of heralding average adventures. I genuinely believe that no matter the circumstance, every facet of exploration is adventure, nothing should be seen as average. I certainly felt a pressure whilst planning my travels back in 2019 to do something different, purposeful, and even ensure there was a certain element of risk. Looking back now, these tick boxes can certainly create a fulfilling trip, but it doesn't always have to be that way. In fact, it is never really about what you do, but why you're doing it, and sometimes a little weekend escape, to tear ourselves away from the sensory overload of busy cities and heavy amounts of screen time, is enough in that moment.

In terms of whats next? I am heading off to the US in June to work as a sailing counsellor at a summer camp in Minnesota. I have no idea how much free time I will have but I hope to carry on using this as a place to document my experience, mainly for my own personal reflection, but also for the small amount of friends and family that are interested.

Probably bye until then...

Phoebe

(p.s. I felt like I needed to compliment this post with an updated photo - so here is a questionable one of me with some yummy scran (of course), celebrating my 22nd birthday with one of my best mates at uni, who must have said something very funny...!)
